School Break

This past week was a holiday from school – Lesotho’s Independence Day break, also a week in between the third and fourth quarter of school.
During this break, I went back to Leribe to visit my old village. It was the last time I will be able to see the people there before I finish my PC service. Going back was difficult and bittersweet. I miss my old school and host family and community so much and it was a reminder that I have not been able to feel at home or as comfortable or form the same relationships in the community I live in now. But I am glad I was able to actually say goodbye and see some of them one last time.

After travelling, I came back and explored a little bit around my current site in town close by, Morija. Morija is a town that is known as the art and cultural center of Lesotho. It is not much, but there is a museum and art studio (where I have painted and did the Roku pottery) and a couple nice lodges. As a tourist attraction, there are dinosaur footprints on a large rock up a mountain, so my friend Paula visited and we went on a hike to go see them. The summer weather has come so it was nice outside but also exhausting. A nice way to spend the vacation before school starts tomorrow.
The trees were manually planted, but it provided shade in the heat and reminded me of CA
Dinosaur Footprints!
Enjoying the view
