Growing the Rainbow

Despite running into the challenges of beginner gardeners, the vegetables we were able to grow were rewarding beyond my expectations. One of my favorite things about our garden was how beautiful our harvests could be.

This past summer we tried to grow carrots – in the end, they took a long time, took up a lot of space, and yielded just a few. A few of our carrots we harvested too late and they got too tough to even be edible! Others had the biggest leaves, but were just so small once we pulled them up from the ground. I guess you could say that we were not that successful…

But take a step back, and we were still able to enjoy our few little misshapen carrots – our harvests, regardless of how small or full of little holes and critters, were vibrant in color and full of freshness!
